Classic Meatloaf

A comforting and savory classic meatloaf made with a flavorful blend of ground beef, breadcrumbs, and seasonings, topped with a tangy tomato glaze.

  • 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup ketchup (plus extra for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, milk, egg, chopped onion, minced garlic, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, thyme, and parsley. Mix until just combined.
  3. Transfer the mixture to a loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a baking sheet.
  4. Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 70 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
  6. Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, try adding chopped bell peppers or mushrooms to the meat mixture, and serve with mashed potatoes and steamed green beans for a classic comfort meal.
